Patriot's Pen

LOCAL STUDENT COULD WIN $5,000 PRIZE!

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and its Auxiliary announce this year’s Patriot’s Pen essay Competition, “What Freedom Means to Me”.  Middle school students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to compete in this annual essay competition and win thousands of dollars.

Students submit a 300-400 word essay to their schools which must be submitted to the local VFW Post 1463 by November 1, 2017.  Post winners then compete in district judging; district winners advance to state competition.  State winners compete for $46,000 in awards with a national first place prize of $5,000. Entry forms and information have been sent to area middle schools and 6th grade teachers.

Interested students and teachers may contact their local VFW Post 1463 representatives at the Lititz VFW.  For details visit: http://www.vfw.org/Community/Patriot-s-Pen/
