Valentine's Day Visits to Local Veterans

On February 10, 2011, Commander Joel Ellis joined members of the Ladies Auxiliary making a Valentine's Day visit to veterans at two area nursing and retirement homes. In the morning we spoke to vets and other patients at coffee hour at Audobon Villa where we handed out Buddy Poppies and Valentine Day cards which had been made and contributed by Daisy Girl Scout Troop 144. In the evening we visited Luther Acres to see our vets and patients who also received cards and Buddy Poppies.

We visit our veterans to show we love, respect and remember them. We talk to them, listen to their stories, learn a little about them and see their family pictures and reminders of their past. After several visits to Luther Acres, we are getting to recognize and know each other. It is a heartwarming experience for all of us. The Ladies Auxiliary plans to make a similar visit in the spring, so please think about joining us and get in on the good feelings!
