Loyalty Day Art Contest Awards

Recently, students from kindergarten through sixth grades in four local elementary schools submitted artwork depicting this year's Loyalty Day Art Contest theme of "An American Soldier". Ladies Auxiliary members judged the entries and selected the 28 winners.

Patriotic Instructor Anne Loechner led the Loyalty Day Art Contest Award Presentation at Lititz Elementary School on April 19, 2011. Mayor Oettel signed a proclamation declaring May 1 as Loyalty Day; the mayor then led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and spoke to the audience. VFW Post Commander Joel Ellis and assistant superintendent of Warwick Schools Dr. Keith Floyd congratulated the students on their achievements.

The winners' names were announced, and each student proceeded to the front of the auditorium where the Ladies Auxiliary members presented each winner with a flag, a patriotic ruler and pencil, and cash gift. The kids then posed for pictures for their proud families and the Lititz Record Express.
